HDD Recovery Makes No Data No Fee Offer On Hard Drive Recovery Services In Ottawa

HDD Recovery offers a unique No Data, No Fee offer that means clients only make a payment if the company succeeds in recovering data from old or damaged hard drives.

Ottawa, ON, Canada - January 30th, 2014 -- Hard drives are seldom seen by the general public and yet are integral to their daily lives, still storing the vast majority of the world’s personal data and information. These hard drives do have a lifespan however, and after years of constant use, wear and damage can cause corruption and loss of data. However, data stored on corrupt, damaged or old hard drives can still be digitally excavated by those with the right knowledge and tools. HDD Recovery offer data recovery in Ottawa and can do just that, with a No Data No Fee promise wherein clients pay upon success.

Their data recovery process takes place in three stages, first the client sends them the hard drive, the company then analyzes the hard drive and estimates the prospective cost of the work required to retrieve the data. The client then gives a yes or no upon which the work is undertaken, but the price need not be paid if HDD Recovery does not succeed in recovering the data.

Their services currently cover hard drive recovery, laptop recovery and even RAID array recovery, demonstrating they are leading their field in expert data recovery.

A spokesperson for HDD Recovery explained, “The reason we offer this service is because we use technology that is on the leading edge of defining what is possible in data recovery and what’s more, we have artisan technicians that are capable of using this technology to get the very best out of hard drives. No one would pay for someone to attempt to deliver a pizza or attempt to fix the central heating, so we believe no one should pay for attempted data recovery either. We analyze hard drives we receive and provide an estimate before any work is undertaken to fulfill our commitment to best practice.”

About HDD Recovery:
HDD Recovery offers hard drive recovery services and serves Ottawa, Canada and the surrounding areas. They offer customers fast, efficient service using cutting-edge data recovery equipment and software. The company prides itself on personal service and a fair pricing structure. They examine the hard drive themselves and give customers an estimate before any work begins. What’s more, they offer a “no-data, no-fee” policy, so clients won’t pay a dime unless they are successful.

DriveSavers Now Recovers Lost Money, Successfully Retrieves Bitcoins

NOVATO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Experts at DriveSavers Data Recovery have been recovering valuable data for more than 27 years. As such, DriveSavers sees new types of challenges nearly every day and is constantly evolving to keep pace with the ever-changing technology landscape.

A recent evolution in the field of data recovery involves bitcoins, a peer-to-peer digital currency system that’s gained popularity and value since being introduced in 2009.

Senior Enterprise Recovery Engineer Chris Bross said at least six people have called for consultations about bitcoin data loss in the past month.

“In some cases, professional data recovery can be a relatively expensive process,” said Bross. “When bitcoins are at stake, the value of the recovery makes it even more worthwhile.”

Starting out in 2009 at a mere $0.30 per bitcoin, the virtual currency is now worth more than $800 per bitcoin, with an overall value increase of more than 2,000 percent in less than five years. Car dealerships, casinos, grocery stores, restaurants and other businesses such as Overstock.com and Virgin Airlines will be accepting the new currency in 2014. Bitcoins can also be traded for US dollars (or other currency) through a dedicated bitcoin exchange.

Once bitcoins are obtained, either through exchange via a recognized company or by way of “mining”, they can be stored in an online virtual wallet. Security concerns sometimes deter people from storing their bitcoins online, choosing instead to store something potentially worth thousands of US dollars on a personal computer.

A recent bitcoin recovery by DriveSavers involved a customer that had mined his bitcoins independently and allowed their value to increase while they were being stored on his Microsoft Surface Pro. His investment in bitcoin mining was so successful he was able to purchase a home and furnish it solely with his bitcoin-generated income.

There was just one problem â€" the tablet containing the bitcoins wasn’t backed up. When the customer performed a number of steps that led to data loss; he compounded the problem by functionally disabling the computer's ability to boot up. Due to the type and amount of logical damage, DriveSavers developed new proprietary technology to access the data, resulting in a 10-day recovery time rather than the average time of 1-2 days.

“Interestingly, the market value of the customer’s bitcoin investment had more than doubled within the time span of our data recovery process,” said Bross.

To protect digital wallets and prevent any kind of data loss, Bross says, “It’s important to remember the three rules of safe computing: Encrypt, secure and backup!”

Chicago-Based Trading Firm Spot Trading to Save $500,000 in Data Storage Costs While Meeting Data Recovery ...

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 27, 2014) - Riverbed Technology (NASDAQ: RVBD), the leader in application performance infrastructure, today announced that Spot Trading, a Chicago-based trading firm, has deployed Riverbed® Whitewater® cloud storage appliances for efficient and secure transport of data to and from Amazon Glacier from Amazon Web Services (AWS). The switch to the cloud saves the company $500,000 in storage infrastructure costs while securing Spot Trading's data. By deploying Riverbed Whitewater as part of its cloud strategy, Spot Trading can now encrypt and de-duplicate traffic to the cloud, further reducing deployment costs and securing data sent to and from the cloud. Additionally, in the event of disaster or loss of data, recovery of recent files takes just minutes from the Whitewater appliance, instead of days.

Tweet This: Spot Trading saves $500k in storage costs with Riverbed Whitewater and #AWS. Find out more: rvbd.ly/1arbB3E

Spot Trading is a technology-focused proprietary trading firm built on applied technology, using the latest in innovation to solve problems in the financial markets. The company has grown from a team of five individuals in 1999 to over 120 professionals working in technology, equity, research, quantitative, administrative and trading roles. The IT team is responsible for ensuring an optimal computing infrastructure for real-time trading. Among its many other responsibilities, the team maintains offsite backups to store trading logs, email and other communications. Backing up to tape and storing data offsite took seven days each month to manage. Moving to cloud-based backup has completely eliminated the need for tape, including the fees to offsite tapes.

"With Amazon Glacier, customers can reliably store data in a storage service designed with eleven nines of durability for as little as $0.01 per gigabyte per month, a significant savings compared to on-premises solutions," said Terry Wise, director, Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services. "Riverbed Whitewater gives customers added flexibility in how they can access Amazon Glacier for their long-term archival and tape replacement strategies."

The Whitewater cloud storage appliance saved Spot Trading $500,000 by eliminating the need to upgrade its storage area network (SAN). "Riverbed Whitewater gave us a clear path for offloading backups securely to cloud storage in a much more cost-effective way," said Andrew Girin, IT technical team lead, Spot Trading.

By compressing and deduplicating data before sending it to the cloud, Whitewater reduces the amount of data stored in the cloud up to 30 times, further lowering the cost of storing data in Amazon Glacier. Recent data is cached locally so customers experience restores at the speed of disk with cost and durability of the cloud. In addition, the Whitewater appliance encrypts data to keep it safe. "My concern was how to protect the data and make sure it's not being accessed by someone else," said Girin. "By being able to encrypt on the Whitewater appliance, if data is ever exposed, a third party would have nothing but encrypted text."

Recoveries are also much faster with Whitewater. When backing up to tape and moving data offsite, it took two or three days to recover. When restoring data from Amazon Glacier via the Whitewater appliance, recovery times go down to a few hours and can take as little as a few minutes if the data is cached within the Whitewater appliance.

During the evaluation of Whitewater, the setup took less than an hour. "We pointed our existing Symantec Backup Exec to the Whitewater appliance and entered in our Amazon Glacier credentials and we were done," said Girin. IT also spends dramatically less time on backup and recovery. With tape, it required one or two people managing the backup, which took about seven days of time per month to manage and even more time if recovery was needed. Girin explained: "With Riverbed Whitewater, we gained a weeks' time back that can be spent on higher-priority projects, where before it was spent managing backup."

Kroll Ontrack Addresses Externalized Content Storage – Including Shredded Files – and Live Mailbox Collection with ...

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Kroll Ontrack, the leading provider of data recovery and ediscovery products and services, today announced the availability of Ontrack® PowerControls™ version 7.1. This enhancement allows IT administrators to access, search and restore externalized data from Metalogix RBS (Remote BLOB Storage), including externalized Microsoft® SharePoint® 2013 shredded files, as well as collect and export data from a live Microsoft Exchange Server.

“BLOBs, or Binary Large Objects, consume 80-95 percent of SharePoint storage space, and storing that content natively is extremely expensive and can result in poor performance,” explains Tom McCaffrey, product director of enterprise solutions, Kroll Ontrack. “As a result, many organizations leverage RBS solutions like Metalogix to externalize BLOBs to less expensive storage, dramatically reducing SQL database volumes and costs while significantly improving database performance. Ontrack PowerControls 7.1 enables IT administrators to rebuild these externalized databases, including shredded SharePoint files, during the granular restore process and effectively locate and restore critical files.”

In addition to restoring externalized RBS data, Ontrack PowerControls 7.1 addresses the need to adeptly respond to legal requests for the defensible collection of potentially relevant data, including real-time data stored within a live Exchange environment. Through advanced collection capabilities, Ontrack PowerControls, a software solution within the ediscovery.com Collect suite, enables IT administrators to leverage one tool and a defined workflow process to systematically target, search and export data from both a live Exchange environment as well as from an Exchange or SharePoint backup. This feature broadens an organization’s collection parameters and provides the legal team with a more comprehensive and accurate data collection for ediscovery analysis and review.

Recuva now recovers data from unmounted drives, ISO-formatted optical discs

Piriform has released Recuva 1.5 and Recuva Portable 1.5, new versions of its freeware data recovery tool for Windows PCs.

Version 1.5’s headline feature is its newly acquired ability to recover data from unmounted drives, while it also adds support for the ISO9660 file system as well as Junction Point recovery.

Recuva 1.47 allows users to recover lost and deleted data from hard drives -- the Portable build can be unzipped and run directly from a removable device such as a thumb drive, ensuring data isn't written to the drive users are trying to recover data from.

Recuva makes it possible for users to recover both lost and deleted data from hard drives without having to pay a penny -- the portable version comes in zip file form, making it possible to extract and run the program directly from a removable drive, ensuring the program doesn't have to be installed on the drive on which data recovery will be attempted.

Support for unmounted drives means that users can now attempt data recovery from drives and partitions not ordinarily visible in Windows itself -- including drives that haven’t been assigned a drive letter. Note, however, that the drive itself must be recognized by Windows in order for data to be extracted from it.

Version 1.5 also adds support for the ISO9660 file system, which allows users to scan CDs and DVDs for deleted or lost files -- simply select the drive from the drop-down menu and click Scan to see what’s recoverable.

Also added is Junction Point recovery, allowing users to attempt recovery using NTFS junction points, which are symbolic link files pointing to other directories on the user’s system.

Recuva 1.5 also promises improved recovery of duplicated filenames, better optical drive detection and recovery, plus more accurate scan statistics. The update is rounded off with the usual minor user interface tweaks and unspecified bug fixes.

Recuva 1.50 and Recuva Portable 1.50 are available now as a freeware downloads for PCs running Windows XP or later.

ACE Data Recovery Develops Service to Securely Recover Data Remotely

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - January 12, 2014) - ACE Data Recovery, a subdivision of the ACE Data Group LLC, announced today they have developed a proprietary service that allows their engineers to successfully recover data remotely from hard drives anywhere in the world. With the ACE Remote Recovery Manager (ARRM) your critical business data will be recovered from a logically corrupted storage system, SAN, NAS, RAID, server application, or Virtual Machine in a fast and convenient way via a highly secure Internet connection.

Time is money. With the cost of downtime averaging over $100,000 an hour it is vital to get clients up and running as quickly as possible. When mission critical data is deleted or damaged but the media is stable and functioning, remote data recovery could be the best and only choice.

"This is a key service to make available not only to our corporate clients, but to individuals as well," stated ACE Data Group CEO, Charles Walker. "ACE Remote Recovery Manager now extends our industry leading expertise anywhere in the world there is an internet connection."

ACE Data Recovery's engineers routinely work on highly complex projects to recover data from mission-critical enterprise systems. They are the recognized experts in recovering data from Enterprise Storage Arrays (SAN/NAS) and performing Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V, Oracle VM, VMware ESX/ESXi data recoveries.

"The process itself is simple by design," said Andrey Petrov, Director of Enterprise Services. "First we have a phone or web conference to perform the initial evaluation to discuss the requirements and set the proper expectations for the client. Next we securely log into the client's designated recovery computer on-site, configure and download the ARRM utilities. Finally, we perform the remote recovery and verify the results with the customer. This service represents a significant time reduction to complete these types of recoveries."

Based on their over 30 years of experience, ACE Data Recovery states that the most common data loss issues businesses face are file deletion, reformatting/repartitioning, and Virtual Machine file (VMDK or VHD) corruption. ACE Data Recovery has one of the highest recovery success rates in the industry. When time is critical, ACE Remote Recovery Manager will provide businesses with the fastest, secure, and cost-effective data recovery solution possible saving both time and money. All that is needed to perform remote data recovery is an available system with a reliable broadband internet connection and a storage media to transfer files to. Trio of weaker data reports takes shine off UK recovery

By William Schomberg and David Milliken

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's economic recovery got a "reality check" on Friday when data showed weaker-than-expected manufacturing output, a sharp fall in the construction sector, and a slowdown in retail sales growth.

Economists said growth in the fourth quarter might now struggle to keep up the pace which has made Britain one of the fastest-growing economies among the world's rich nations.

Official data was not seen matching up with strong industry surveys.

Output for both manufacturing and industrial production was flat month-on-month in November, and October's increases were revised down, the Office for National Statistics said.

Economists in a Reuters poll had expected increases of 0.4 percent for manufacturing and industrial output in November.

The data was "something of a reality check for those getting a little carried away by the strength of the UK recovery," said James Ashley, senior economist with RBC Capital Markets.

HSBC's Simon Wells said Friday's data could reduce growth in the fourth quarter to 0.6 percent from 0.8 percent in the July-September period, unless there is a very strong performance from the dominant services sector.

Bad weather in December could also weigh on gross domestic product, he said.

Sterling fell and 10-year British government bond yields touched their lowest level since December 19.

The ONS also said output in Britain's construction sector shrank by 4.0 percent in November from October, its sharpest fall since June 2012 and a setback for a sector which has been recovering from a long slump.

"The recovery in the UK remains broadly on track - but today's data are a reminder that we have not yet reached the sunlit uplands that would pave the way towards thoughts of policy tightening," RBC's Ashley told clients.

The Bank of England has forecast economic growth of 0.9 percent in the October-December period and Friday's data could help underscore its message that it is in no rush to raise record-low interest rates.

"Talk of the UK being the first developed country to hike rates looks rather misplaced," said Marc Ostwald, a fixed income strategist at Monument Securities.

Adding to the sense of a recovery struggling to stay in high gear, a separate survey showed British retail sales growth slowed in December.

A first estimate of Britain's economic growth in the fourth quarter is due to be announced on January 28.

CONFIDENCE GOOD BUT MONEY IN POCKETS SHORT

Britain staged a surprisingly strong recovery in 2013 after struggling to get over the financial crisis. But the economic turnaround has depended largely on spending by consumers, many of whom have been buoyed by a recovery in the housing market while earnings fail to keep up with inflation.

A survey published on Friday by the British Retail Consortium showed that sales in the busy shopping month of December were 1.8 percent higher on the year compared with a 2.3 percent increase in November.

"While confidence levels were higher than the previous year, this wasn't always matched by more money in pockets," BRC Director-General Helen Dickinson said.

The outlook for Britain still contrasts starkly with grim forecasts of a return to recession at the start of last year.

The economy is expected to expand by 2.8 percent this year, according to the BoE. There have been some early signs of a long-awaited shift towards more sustainable growth based on exports and business investment.

Data on Thursday showed that while the country's trade deficit remains wide, goods exports rose to several other European countries, many of which are only starting to emerge from the region's debt crisis.

However, British manufacturing remains 8.5 percent smaller than its peak in 2008, before the financial crisis.

Weighing on overall industrial production in November was a 3.0 percent fall in oil and gas extraction compared with October, largely caused by reduced output at Total's St Fergus onshore North Sea gas terminal, ONS officials said.

Unlike specialized recovery services, Recovery Toolbox for DBF needs literally no time to restore the contents of a corrupted DBF file and the user never compromises the data stored within, since it never leaves the user’s system. The program was designed and developed for non-professionals and people with zero experience in data recovery â€" hence the simplicity of the user interface that is based on a step-by-step wizard.

This convenient tool for the recovery of DBF data supports all versions of the DBF format and files created in all popular database applications, including dBase IV, Clipper, FoxPro 2 and Visual FoxPro.
